Break Glass in Case of Emergency
I used to keep a cassette of the 2d set of this show buried in my car’s glovebox. I called it my “emergency” Dead tape, comforted it was always available

in case of any sudden, urgent need to hear the GD do what only they did. Maybe because it was the first show after Egypt (which hadn’t gone well musically) or they just needed some home town love, the band seemed determined for a classic performance this night, and they delivered. The whole set is great, even prompting the woman’s mid-set request to Jerry for banjo lessons. The enduring highlights for me are the seemingly innocent riffing in the intro to the stand-out Eyes (start around 9:00 of Estimated) leading to an unexpected thunderous peak, and the sizzling jam they build after technical issues arise in the Around and Around (around 4:00). Pure gold I tell you, and to think you can bust out this fine recording anytime, even if not an emergency. Do it.
